One that began in 1848, in the Bowery District of New York City, when two German immigrants had a vision of bringing the finest tools and hardware the world had to offer to a burgeoning construction trade. By the turn of the century, our store became known as “the place to go for things hard to find.” In 1926, Hammacher Schlemmer began to add luxury housewares to the already famous product line. Always innovative, the store was the first to carry the steam iron, electric dry shaver, pop-up toaster, microwave oven and many more “firsts” over the ensuing years. Much has changed at Hammacher Schlemmer. they have evolved from a hardware store in the Bowery to one of America’s oldest, most venerated retailers. But, what has remained constant since 1848 is their dedication to searching for the most unique and innovative products and their commitment to providing unequaled customer service and a guarantee second to none. |
